BIO

Richard McConnell has over 35 years of experience developing and installing Behavior-Based Solutions throughout North America. He specialized in building and deploying performance management and employee engagement systems and has led numerous large-scale change initiatives. Before developing his consulting practice, Richard was a Vice-President and Senior Executive in three national organizations. He has worked in Health Care, Transportation, Communications, Manufacturing, and Logistics organizations.

Richard’s unwavering dedication to his work is evident in his 30-year tenure managing large groups of people. At VON, his staff group consisted of 125, and at VIA Rail, it exceeded 200. He spent five years as a Senior Consultant and Vice President for ADI Canada, a testament to his commitment. ADI and its founder, Aubrey Daniels, were listed in the American Guru Guide for expertise in Performance Management. This, along with coaching, was a critical element of their consulting practice. He had operated as an internal consultant throughout his career. Richard didn’t believe in “cookie-cutter” or “one-size-fits-all” solutions. He believed that the best solutions are unique to the organization and are carefully assembled through detailed consultation.

Richard’s expertise is unparalleled, holding a green belt in LEAN (The Toyota Production System) and pioneering the marriage of total quality management and employee engagement. His mission has always been to maximize people’s contributions to the organizations in which they work, a testament to his confidence in his abilities.

Education:

His work was behavioral at its core and is founded on the belief that organizational success occurs when people always do the right thing. He had a Master’s degree in Adult Education and consulted in developing and rolling out strategic and operational performance management systems internally and externally.

Richard’s personal life is a reflection of his balanced approach to work and life. He was married to his wife, Stephanie, for 45 years and is the proud parent of three adult children. His hobbies, including wine producing, skiing, cycling, and traveling, show his commitment to enjoying life outside of work, a trait that many can relate to.
